Poets Fly

Poets fly, but we don’t have wings
Poets swim, but we don’t have feet
Instead we have feathers ten of them
That give us lift

Poets dance, but we don’t have legs
Poets cimb, but we don’t have thumbs
But minds that sing

Poets fly, but we don’t have wings

Poets work out, but we don’t have hands
Poets walk, but we don’t have knees
We have black keys and a pencil

Poets talk, but we don’t have voices
Poets shoot, but we don’t arms
Instead we have thoughts,
That spill out of our heads

Poets see, but we don’t have eyes
Poets love, but we don’t have a heart
But we have spirits that live free

Poets fly, but we don’t have wings

Poets smell, but we don’t have noses
Poets hear, but we don’t have ears
We have heads that hold our knowledge

Poets ride, but we don’t have horses
Poets golf, but we don’t have clubs
Instead we have freedom to write

Poets fly, but we don’t have wings
